Cá bhfuil mo cheann? Where is my head?
This 4 colour screen print was inspired by the story behind the missing head of Nelson's Pillar, Dublin, Ireland.⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After Nelson's pillar was blown up in 1966, Nelson's head was stolen by a group of art students from NCAD. The stolen head was headline news; it even made an appearance on stage with the Dubliners, in the Olympia Theatre, Dublin. Angelina felt this story's connection with Art needed to be restored, she chose to illustrate with a 4 colour screen print. A colour popping process made famous in the creative swinging sixties when the deed was done.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remains of Nelson's pillar now lie in the garden of Butler House, Kilkenny. Brought there by William H Walsh, who founded Kilkenny Design Workshops.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The head eventually ended up back in the possession of Dublin Corporation and now rests in Dublin City Library, Pearce Street. The identity of the NCAD students was never revealed.⠀
