The Wonderful Barn Coasters
This unique set of 4 high-quality coasters features my original photography and an inscription as Gaeilge. The reverse of each one reads - Éirí na Gréine ag The Wonderful Barn (Sunrise at the Wonderful Barn). Katherine Connolly's Famine project 1743.
The Wonderful Barn is part of the Castletown Estate in Co Kildare. It was built in 1743 during the Year of Slaughter, when 28% of the population of Ireland died of starvation or disease.
Against this backdrop, the Wonderful Barn is a symbol of hope - it was commissioned by Katherine Connolly to provide employment, food and as a store for grain for the local area.
These afffordable coasters, hand-printed in Kildare, make the perfect gift for any lover of Irish heritage and travel. Practical and light-weight, they offer a regular reminder of beauty and hope in the world.
Your coaster set will arrive with you bound in an elegant ribbon that features the Irish expression 'An rud is annamh is iontach', and it's English translation - what is rare is wonderful.
These coasters are also available to buy individually as part of the Scéal Eile Collection.
