Eco-Printing on Paper with Angelina Foster
Create your own natural, botanical art print on paper using leaves and flowers from the local trees and plants in Ireland’s Ancient East.
Eco-Printing on Paper is a taster natural dye workshop, using dried and early spring foliage. We learn traditional dyeing skills and experiment with different natural dyes and layouts on handmade Japanese and oriental papers, capturing the spirit of the lush landscape by gently rolling your designs into bundles.
As we wait in anticipation for the dye to fix, we will have a cup of tea and discuss the dye process and the bright colours associated with our ancestors before revealing your design which can be used as a wall print, card design or book cover. It’s a beautiful experience watching nature and your creations transform into something new.
The majority of this workshop will be in the outdoor courtyard of the Tanyard so please dress appropriately.
The old Quaker Tanyard is located in the shadow of Mary Leadbetter’s house (now the library and Quaker Museum). Mary Leadbetter (née Shackleton) was an Irish writer, poet and the first female postmaster in Ireland.
Participants – What do I need to bring? Normally we say all you need is a smile!
However, to reduce waste & adhere to Covid19 regulation participants are asked to bring an apron or old clothes, and their own reusable rubber gloves (or they may purchase a set at the workshop).
Limited to 6 spaces to comply with Covid guidelines, Angelina has also completed the Failte Ireland Safety Charter. We will, therefore, have appropriate breaks & hand washing! Mask must worn whilst indoors, again we ask that you bring your own, should you forget you may purchase one.
Location: The Tanyard, Ballitore, Co Kildare (behind the library)
Duration: 3 hours
Lunch can be pre-ordered in the new Tanyard Coffee Shop next door to my studio.
In the weeks and months following, I will be hosting natural dye and book-binding workshops where you may use your new creations to make a notebook or journal. Anyone who has completed a course with me can enjoy 10% off the cost of follow up workshops.
Please note you might not believe it, but everyone is creative, some are practising creatives and some are not. I have so many people who come to my workshops who say they are not artistic, you don't need to be, you just need an open mind :) & you will create something you will cherish.
